Case CE strengthens position in the midi excavator segment
Case Construction Equipment has expanded its excavator product range with two new midi excavators. The CX85E and CX90E models are intended to appeal primarily to construction companies, landscapers and rental companies and to further intensify competitive pressure in this fiercely contested market segment.
"The challenges of modern construction sites require innovative machines that help work groups achieve more with less", explains Terry Dolan, head of CNH Construction Brands in North America. The new midi excavators are intended to offer large machine performance in a space-saving design.
Technical specifications of the new models
Both machines feature a robust 72-HP engine that provides sufficient power for demanding digging and clearing work as well as the use of powerful attachments. The operating weight is 8,830 kilograms for the CX85E, while the CX90E weighs in at 9,210 kilograms.
A comprehensive hydraulic package with standard auxiliary hydraulics and quick-change connections enables the operation of a wide variety of work tools – from hydraulic hammers to rippers to grapples and buckets. This equipment makes subsequent modifications unnecessary.
Specialization for confined work areas
The CX85E with fixed boom offers zero-tailswing technology, enabling work directly against walls and fences. The CX90E, on the other hand, features an optimized swing boom with 180 degrees of freedom of movement for superior reach and digging depth in earthmoving work in tight spaces.
Focus on operator comfort and maintenance friendliness
The cab of both models offers automatic air conditioning, a heated air suspension seat and a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display. Ergonomic joystick controls and adjustable electro-hydraulic controls reduce operator fatigue and enable adaptation to specific construction site requirements.
For maintenance, a tilting cab provides quick access to hydraulic components as well as wide maintenance compartments and ground-level service points for efficient routine checks.
Market impact and competitive situation
With the introduction of the two new midi excavators, Case CE intensifies competition in a segment traditionally dominated by manufacturers like Mecalac. The compact dimensions combined with high performance target applications directly where larger machines cannot be used.
The availability of various undercarriage options – from solid rubber tracks to steel tracks in various widths to steel tracks with rubber pads – underlines the versatility of the new models. Optionally available LED lighting also enables round-the-clock operation.
Case CE positions the new machines as a response to the changing requirements of an increasingly competitive construction industry, where efficiency, productivity and profitability represent decisive success factors.
