NordBau 2026: Northern Germany's largest industry meeting starts with new focus areas
From September 9 to 13, 2026, the Holstenhallen Neumünster will once again open their doors for Northern Germany's most important construction trade fair. The 71st NordBau presents itself with revised concepts and increased focus on sustainability and digitalization in construction. For machinery manufacturers such as the Bavarian roller specialist Hamm, the event offers an important platform for presenting innovative compaction technology to Northern German trade audiences.
Timber construction as new trade fair focus
With the newly conceived "Timber Construction Halls" 4 and 6, NordBau 2026 places increased emphasis on sustainable building. Together with Holzbauzentrum Nord, exhibitors present their expertise around the ecological building material under the motto "TimberCraft*Future". The platform is specifically aimed at timber construction specialists, engineers, architects, housing industry and investors and shows the versatility of modern timber construction methods through practical examples.
Smart Construction and circular economy in focus
In Hall 1, leading players from architecture and engineering combine their research expertise. Topics such as Smart Construction, circular economy and innovative material testing are at the center. Together with the Chamber of Architects of Schleswig-Holstein, the partners show how construction processes can be made more efficient and resource-saving.
Outdoor area: Construction machinery and modern technology
The fully booked outdoor area presents the complete spectrum of modern construction machinery – from electric machines with charging infrastructure to modern road construction technology and municipal equipment. Visitors can experience materials, technology and processing directly. The offering includes both established and innovative novelties such as large electric equipment and digital applications with AI in construction.
Significance for medium-sized manufacturers
For companies like Hamm that focus on specialized areas such as rollers and compaction equipment, NordBau offers direct access to Northern German construction and civil engineering companies. The trade fair enables the presentation of innovative compaction solutions to a relevant professional audience and the establishment of important business contacts.

A special focus is on personnel recruitment and young talent development. In Hall 1, companies present themselves to young people as employers within the framework of "NordJob Construction: Technology". Through the Institute for Talent Development, male and female students visit the trade fair at agreed appointments and make initial contacts away from classic application situations.

The congress area again records an increase in events in 2026. Around 50 offerings include the Fire Protection and Safety Day, Sewer Rehabilitation Days, and the Practical Forum for Municipal and Environmental Technology. The construction congress Conbau Nord on September 9 and 10 is dedicated to the theme "Residential Construction in Transformation" and addresses central aspects such as heat transition, demographics and new construction standards.
