Austrian-Chinese Joint Venture Launches Offensive
The joint venture Palfinger-Sany used bauma 2016 in Munich as a starting signal for entering the European market. The Austrian-Chinese company presented for the first time a complete range of CE-certified mobile cranes that were specially developed for the requirements of the European market.
The strategic partnership between the Austrian crane manufacturer Palfinger and the Chinese construction machinery giant Sany makes it possible to combine cost-effective crane models with European quality and safety standards. All offered models have the required CE certification and thus comply with European directives for construction machinery.
Comprehensive Product Range for Various Applications
The product portfolio includes four different crane types for different applications:
- Truck Cranes: Compact and maneuverable models like STC250, STC500, STC750, STC800, STC100C and STC1300C
- Rough Terrain Cranes: All-terrain cranes (SRC350, SRC550, SRC750) with excellent off-road performance
- Truck-Mounted Telescopic Cranes: Truck-mounted telescopic cranes of the model series SPC250, SPC320 and SPC400
- All Terrain Cranes: Universal models SAC1800, SAC2200 and SAC3000 for combined road and terrain use
International Proof of Concept Already Passed
The Palfinger-Sany mobile cranes have already proven themselves on international construction sites in Russia, Africa, the Middle East, North America and Southeast Asia. These references are now to serve as a basis of trust for the European market entry.
First Successes and Dealer Network Development
The company was already able to record a first success: The Turkish construction company Yapi Merkezi, which also realizes European projects, ordered eight Truck Crane models as well as two All-Terrain cranes. This order complements two previous orders for a total of 13 crane units with lifting capacities between 25 and 130 tons.
For building a European distribution network, Palfinger-Sany relies on a special dealer recruitment program. "We are looking for strong European dealers to build a powerful network for our European customers", explained Yan Zhang, Project Manager of Palfinger Sany International Mobile Cranes Sales GmbH.
Market Opportunities Against Established Competition
The European crane market is traditionally dominated by established manufacturers. Palfinger-Sany positions itself as a cost-effective alternative that nevertheless meets European quality and safety standards. The company benefits from the combination of Sany's production capacities and Palfinger's European market knowledge.
The availability of the All Terrain Cranes with CE certification is to follow shortly and complete the product offering for the European market. The success of this market offensive will largely depend on how quickly and effectively the planned dealer network can be built up.
