US-based construction equipment and crane manufacturer Terex is planning to establish a production facility in India. The expansion targets the high-growth Indian construction equipment market, which benefits from infrastructure projects and urbanization. With local manufacturing, Terex could shorten delivery times and avoid import tariffs – a model that competitors like Caterpillar and Volvo CE have been pursuing for years. India could also serve as an export base for the Asia-Pacific region.
