The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) is challenging high US import tariffs on crane equipment in ongoing hearings, arguing the duties burden construction companies and drive up project costs. The trade levies affect European manufacturers including Dutch mobile tower crane maker Spierings Mobile Cranes, whose self-erecting models are deployed on US jobsites. SC&RA represents heavy-haul and crane operators across North America. The association argues that domestically unavailable specialist equipment should be exempt from tariffs to prevent construction delays and cost overruns.
