Volvo Construction Equipment and Hitachi Energy have agreed on a strategic cooperation for the electrification of construction sites. The partnership aims to develop comprehensive solutions that combine electric construction machinery with the required charging infrastructure and energy management systems. While Volvo CE already has electrified compact excavators and wheel loaders in its portfolio, Hitachi Energy brings expertise in grid integration, fast charging systems, and battery storage. The cooperation addresses a central hurdle in electrification: construction sites have so far typically lacked the powerful power supply needed for the simultaneous operation of multiple electric machines.
