Volvo Construction Equipment presents two new electric dumpers designed for urban construction sites and low-emission zones. The Swedish manufacturer is thereby expanding its range of electric machines and responding to growing market demand for equipment with zero local emissions.

The two new models complement Volvo CE's range of electric articulated dumpers. According to the manufacturer, these machines are designed for urban construction sites where emission restrictions are becoming increasingly stringent. The dumpers operate without CO2 emissions or fine particulate emissions during operation.

The technology is based on lithium-ion batteries that power the electric transmission. Volvo CE relies on a modular architecture allowing different battery configurations depending on the required duration of use. The equipment can be recharged during breaks or at the end of the shift via standard charging stations.

The advantages for construction companies lie in operating costs. Electric dumpers show reduced maintenance costs compared to diesel models. No engine oil changes, no diesel filter replacements, no exhaust system maintenance. Electric motors require less maintenance than conventional thermal engines.

The industry is responding with interest to this innovation. Companies operating in city centers are looking for solutions to comply with low-emission zones. Electric dumpers offer the possibility to continue working in these zones while respecting environmental regulations.

Volvo CE is continuing its fleet electrification strategy. The manufacturer already offers electric excavators and electric loaders. The expansion to dumpers now makes it possible to equip complete construction sites with zero-emission machines.

The group's sustainable development objectives include a significant reduction in CO2 emissions over the entire lifecycle of machines. The new electric dumpers are part of this approach by eliminating direct site emissions. Green electricity production enables a significantly more favorable carbon balance than diesel engines.

Availability and pricing of the two new models will be announced later by Volvo CE. The manufacturer announces gradual market introduction depending on regions, with priority for European regions where demand for electric equipment is strongest.
