Multitel Pagliero has acquired Italian spider crane manufacturer Palazzani, thereby expanding its position in the European market for compact lifting equipment. The acquisition fits into the consolidation wave in the crane sector, driven by increasing price pressure and stricter emission regulations. For German providers like Tadano Demag, this creates a strengthened competitor that will be able to offer both work platforms and spider cranes from a single source in the future. Spider cranes with working loads between 2 and 10 tons are becoming increasingly important, particularly in urban construction, where narrow access routes and limited parking space are standard.
