Takeuchi is expanding its compact excavator portfolio with the TB 320. The Japanese manufacturer is positioning the new machine in the 3-ton class, targeting applications in pipeline construction, horticulture, and urban excavation. The compact excavator is designed to fill the gap between classic mini excavators and larger mobile excavators.

The core of the TB 320 is a compact track chassis with extendable ground tracks. The transport width is 1.5 meters, and in work mode the chassis can be extended to 1.8 meters. This allows the machine to achieve stability that, according to Takeuchi, is comparable to larger 5-ton excavators. The operating weight is approximately 3,200 kilograms.

The maximum digging depth of the TB 320 is specified as 3.2 meters. The reach at ground level is 5.1 meters. For pipeline construction work, this means: the excavator can pass through any garden gate but still reaches standard trench depths for supply lines. The hydraulic system operates with a flow rate of 55 liters per minute at a system pressure of 235 bar.

The compact excavator is powered by a diesel engine with 18.5 kilowatts of power. The engine complies with current emission standards and operates with a particle filter system. The fuel tank holds 30 liters – sufficient for a typical working day of 6 to 7 hours of operation. The cabin is equipped as standard with air conditioning and joystick control.

Takeuchi offers a wide range of attachments for the TB 320. In addition to standard buckets in widths of 30 to 80 centimeters, ditch cleaning buckets, hydraulic breakers, and compaction plates are also available. A quick coupler is included as standard equipment. Switching between different attachments takes less than a minute.

With the TB 320, Takeuchi is responding to growing demand for compact machines for urban use. Such compact excavators are particularly sought after in city center areas with limited space. They combine compact transport width with sufficient power for typical excavation work.

The list price for the TB 320 is approximately 42,000 euros net. This positions Takeuchi in the mid-range price segment. Competitors such as Kubota, Yanmar, and Wacker Neuson offer similar models in this weight class. First deliveries of the TB 320 are scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.
