Centro Oeste, a leading Brazilian provider of lifting and material handling solutions, has commissioned the first Liebherr mobile crane of the LTM 1300-6.4 type in Brazil. The unit is the first in the country to feature Liebherr's LICCON3 control system, marking a technological milestone for crane operations in South America. The investment reinforces Centro Oeste's long-standing partnership with Liebherr. Mobile cranes rated above 90 tonnes in Centro Oeste's fleet are approximately 77 per cent Liebherr units, underlining the depth of technical trust between the two companies. With the addition of the LTM 1300-6.4, the company operates a total fleet of around 110 vehicles, including cranes across multiple capacity classes, loader cranes, forklifts and other material handling equipment.

What makes the LTM 1300-6.4 suitable for demanding lifts?

The load capacity of 300 tonnes combined with the 90-metre telescopic boom positions the LTM 1300-6.4 for heavy lifts at significant working heights. According to Centro Oeste's managing director Diego Scopel, the boom length is particularly advantageous: "Thanks to its 90-metre telescopic boom, the LTM 1300-6.4 reaches working heights that would require a lattice jib on other cranes in the same class. This shortens rigging time and reduces additional assembly steps for personnel, thereby increasing efficiency, safety and availability."

Fabio Azevedo, sales manager at Liebherr Brasil, emphasised the vertical integration behind the control system: "A major strength of Liebherr is that we develop central components such as displays and control units in-house. This ensures particularly high system reliability. At the same time, we secure the long-term availability of spare parts and technical support throughout the entire lifecycle."

This in-house development model differentiates Liebherr from OEMs that rely on third-party electronics suppliers. The result is greater control over product longevity, software updates and backward compatibility – factors that matter in capital-intensive fleets with decade-long service cycles.
